I'm glad you arrived, please do come in.. I hope you enjoy my Homemade crafty items. Feel free to leave a comment and if you have any questions I'll do my best to reply. I've been having better luck with my Mojo but still have a tendency to get lost in the game. I lose my mojo and I just wait for some inspiration to hit and then I'll scrap again. I'm sure others know what I'm talking about. We just plain run out of ideas for a moment! Sooner or later things are kicking back into gear! YAY! For those that stop by and leave comments, I greatly appreciate it. Even stop by just to say Hi.. I will try to get back to your blog too. I hope you have a great day, I hope you enjoy your visit! Let It Snow ------- A Difficult Challenge kit for me.

Merry Christmas everyone!!    Santa is almost here!!                   Dec 24th, 2012

Today I'm going to share with you a layout as well the picture of the kit and the limited things I had to work with.    I finally finished after alot of thinking.
The Rules of this challenge was I could ONLY use the paper supplied and the very sparse embellishments.  I could not buy any prefabbed embellishments, or any other papers.   What we could use was any medium out there, Paints, smooch, embossing powder, inks, clays,  so if you wanted an embellishment you had to come up with something yourself. .  So if I wanted flowers I'd have to make too..   SO  after alot of thought I went to town!   Everything was made.  There are several different mediums used..  making silicon moulds.  I made the roses from utee, the birds in Plastic resin,  red flower  centres I made from oven baked clay too.  I used micro fine glitter on sookwang tape.  The "string of white beads"  are white opal  liquid pearls.  The gold fern were painted with Krylon's 18kt. Gold leaving pen..  Ooh this is such a gorgeous gold color.   I wish the camera would pick up all the glitter.. as the gold, Red and White are so sparkly.   The white micro fine glitter is actually called iridescent Diamonds... its full of white, silver and clear teeny tiny fine glitter.. its just so gorgeous I love it.   I will have a long list of supplies listed at the bottom of this layout.  Please drop me a message, its nice to know I have visitors.    I hope you enjoy my creativity with this layout...    Sherry

I have submitted this layout to a Bling challenge And A christmas color challenge too,  over at Funtoolas. And I'm hoping to add it to a Challenge at Flying Unicorn For the  December's  Alter Ego Challenge.

Check out the Kit and the spare embellishments I had to work with

My first time submitting layout won the Scrapbook Carnival Layout contest

In Sept our city had an annual scrapbook carnival, hosted by the creators of the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.  As part of the 2 day event there was a scrapbook layout contest, where we could submit out work for a possibility of being chosen to be published. I was then shown two prizes to be won, first was a  Digital Sony 8 inch printer that prints 4x6 pictures on the go and it was also a digtal photo frame so you could show off any of those pictures you loved.   Then I was shown the second prize and it was a scrapbooking package, album, inks, stamps, embellishments things like that.  The cofounder of the magazine was excited at showing what awesome prizes that are up for grabs, but reality set in and I thought there was no way.  I've never submitted ANY of my work, in fear its just not good enough.   The contest ended up with over 130 layouts. I was in awe of all the fantastic work all the other ladies did.  At the end of the second day I was there to pick up my work to take home. This was when they announced the winner.  So standing and waiting they picked up the.. Digital Sony 8 inch printer  and said the Winner of this fantastic prize goes to the lady that did This layout... and they held up MINE!!!
MINE!!  I was in shock, my eyes began to well up and in that spilt second I told myself.. don't cry Don't cry... everyone is gonna think i'm crazy don't cry!!  LOL   I managed to hold it in as I walked up and was presented this awesome prize.   I have to say I was alittle shell shocked..  first I was chosen to win,  which meant my very first submission was going to be published in a magazine and if THAT wasn't enough... I got this AWESOME prize..  Gotta say after I went back to where I was standing.. holding my layout in my hand and the Sony Digital printer, my emotions did get the better part of me and a couple tears managed to work there way out!  LOL  I was truly shocked, honoured and thrilled all at the same time.  Never feeling good enough has always been there, but for that moment I felt very proud.

My layout is now published in the Dec Issue the the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.  I however was just a wee bit disappointed with the process of printing magazines (maybe?), but my layout looks totally different.  I'm happy its published but I wish everyone really seen that glistening Gold with layers and layer of gold papers.   What it looks like the gold is kind of gray paper..  I will post of picture of both the actually picture and the published one.  Don't get me wrong.. I'm still published, I just wished that everyone that looks would actually get to see what it REALLY looked like.

                                                                   MY LAYOUT

Proud to say I'm published in December's issue of the  Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine

Very different from the original.
ANYWAY.  If anyone does see it you will know that its really a GLEAMING Gold with 7 layers of Paper and gold glitter board.  Thanks for stopping by I hope you don't mine my excitement for myself.    I hope that someday I will be published again or be good enough to be a guest designer for somewhere..   practice practice practice!!!     Say hi if you stop in.   THANKS  SHERRY

Swapped out Homemade Christmas Ornament

I did a swap and we exchanged homemade ornaments to match our trees.  I made this ornament for a lady, which btw she loved it.  Actually I LOVED it..lol wanted to keep it for myself.  It turned out so nice and I'm glad that I can say that because I feel good giving it to someone when I love it myself.
I wished I took some better pictures before I boxed it up, but sorry these are the only ones I have.  I hope you enjoy.

A Real Challenge

HI there,

I was put to the test again this month,  with a local store challenge kit.   Only receiving very small number of papers, only 3 embellishments, we were asked to make a layout, to be voted on by the stores customers.   We were not allowed to add anything boughten or anything that wasn't in the kit.  We could use any medium we wanted..  eg. paints, smooch, inks, sprays, glitter, stickles, modelling pastes, liquid pearls etc. and we could use any kind of adhesive, or foam dots we like..   Although its hard to tell but Hayden's picture is raised up with foam squares which made his cute little face pop from the page.   We could also use any diecuts we have or any punches we choose.   The big rule was no adding anything that was not in the kit.   It is much harder than it sounds!   This is my layout that I created.  The butterflies are a diecut and glitter with double sided tape.  I love making these butterflies, of course the camera doesn't pick up the extreme sparkle they cast off.    All flowers and leaves are handmade and in place of adding any bling, I used liquid pearls in there place, The teal border is glitter and not cardstock, as this kit had no cardstock included, which made it more challenging.  .   Thanks for stopping in,  I hope you find my much simpler layout interesting.  Would love to know when someone visits... Thanks  Sherry

My First Challenge Kit Layout

Our scrapbook store Scrapbook Memories And More Has recently started a challenge Kit for ladies to purchase and put themselves to the test.   Given only a few pieces of paper(I think it was 5 papers)  2 cardstock,  and very minimal embellishments.  Like 4 brads.. 4 buttons,  little bit of lace, 1 flower.
So we were  put to the test to see if we could make a layout without adding anything boughten,  as in flowers, different lace, bling, beads, or anything bought.  BUT if you could make flowers from the paper supplied that was OK, you could use any medium, things like inks, smooch, modelling paste, felt pens, stamps,  stickles, and even glitter.

THIS is the layout I completed.  It was a huge challenge with no leaves or flowers, so making them all and using paints and inks and smooch they turned out pretty good.   It turns out that my submission was voted in my the customers that shop at the store.   I won 63% of all the votes.    Here is my layout.

Thanks for stopping by.   I know I haven't been around much but I always pop in here.

Hi there,

Today I'm adding a new layout of my daughter when she was just a year old.   She will be 26 next month.   Can't believe how time has gone so fast.    On this layout I experimented with a new technique  for me, using a textured Gel from Liquitex I used a brick stencil to create this layout. As well I used ColorCore Cardstock and used high grit sand paper and exposed the peach core centre in some areas.  I really enjoyed it and hope to continue with it on other layouts.     I get my Dusty attic chipboard from Vicky. Check out her Etsy site. She's from Alberta so its so quick to get for me.

I will also be putting it in Funtoolas's Flower and lace challenges.
This picture was taking by my son Kyle when he was trying to figure out my camera.  I was so impressed with his talent.  He loved to take nature pictures, so lots of pets, and animals and scenery photos.  This is just one of them.  List of material below

Aug 1st How Time Flies

Wow, amazing how one ages in a 11 years..  If only we could turn back time!  This is me... well this WAS me in 2001.    This is my first sewing on a layout  YAY!  I just bought a fancy sewing machine and this was my first attempt.. well other than the scrap paper just to see if it would even sew through paper  lol    I think I like it!  I sewed on the white lace too.. boy that was much easier than using the super sticky double sided tape or the glue dots continuous line glue.   (much cheaper too)

Challenges I will be adding this to For Aug 2012:   Scrap Friends color challenge
Information on material used, listed below.

About this layout:
The main paper is from Kaisercraft - Lake House Collection and Doodlebug design cupcake serenade cardstock
Home made flower of course..  except the little roses
A couple homemade stick pins
Dusty Attic Border   Great place to order Dusty Attic is from  Vicky's etsy site. FAST, helpful, and from Canada.   Usually she brings in a whole HUGE stock but she must move like fire as they sell out fast.
Homemade fan using a good heavy cardstock, and I added a fine  lace on it   Although you can't tell but the lace does have some sparkle to it.  I used double sided tape down each side of the veins after I made the fan I added the lace.
Chalks Ink
One Clear Cuts Butterfly.. the other one is just a run of the mill regular lace butterfly
The Year label is from Teresa Collins - Timeless collection

THANKS for stopping in.   I hope you enjoyed my sewing layout.

Beautiful Sunset

Hi there,

Today I'm sharing a layout more for the photo than the layout.  My son who's really has a talent with the camera, snapped this shot while waiting in line to dock our boat.  The Sun was setting and casting this beautiful spray of colors cascading from the water.  The pictures that he took are breathtaking.   I have to say I have a harder time with nature or male layouts but I have to do it to get better at it... so this is the layout of Kyle's outstanding photograph.  It will have special meaning for him when this layout is placed in his album, and he remembers this calm beautiful summer evening.

Thanks for stopping by.   I will be putting this into http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.ca/ for the challenge word of Beyond.

Mother & Daughter Layout

Hi there.

I hope everyone is enjoying their July.  Our weather has FINALLY gotten warm!  Ya.. about time, before long and winter will be here.. ugh.    My Layout, All the flowers are homemade of course,  I have two kinds of ribbon, one satin, one a knitted type lace, as well I did some personal journaling to my Mom.
I'd love to hear back from anyone that stops by, please share your thoughts with me.
                                                                Thank you for the visit.

                                                                              Sherry

The little journalling tag is written to my mom and says :
I love you Mom with all my Heart
taken June 07

Just a close up of the some of the flowers.  I just love how the camera picked up the sparkle in the leaves this time.  Usually that never shows up.

I found this vintage heart at Magic MoonLight Free Images and I thought that this fit my design perfectly.  The print on the heart says You Inspire Me.  This is a perfect addition to my layout, even outlined in gold color! (one of the colors for Berry71bleu)
